As coaches we all do a lot scouting and game plan preparation.

Then during the game we make educated guesses with our huddle calls.

However, an educated guess is still a guess and there are times every game when you are caught in the wrong coverage (or front, or blitz).

A common defensive adjustment is to call double coverages in the huddle and then picking the call that best matches what the offense lines up in (similar to an offensive’s either/or call).
